The company

SCHMITZ & APELT ITALIA, was established in 1964 as corporate joint venture between Emails- Bayer and Schmitz + Apelt - Wuppertal, combining state-of-the-art know-how of Porcelain Enamels with furnace and heat technology in order to provide the enamelling industry with the most efficient and advanced systems for the processing of the enamels.

In over 35 years of highly specialized activity, mainly design and engineering of complete Porcelain Enamelling facilities for parts of appliance and sanitary ware of every kind and size, hundreds of plants were installed and put in operation and a lot of proprietary equipments were developed.
Milestones of this activity are:
· Erection of the 1st Porcelain Enamelling line for tanks of water heaters in Italy with single-end radiant-tube heated furnace.

The works originally of Rheem Manufac-turing Corp. belong now to Merloni Group and are still in full production (over 1000 enamelled tanks /day.

· 1st integrated line for pre-treatment and (two-coat) enamelling of boilers installed at Thermital (Riello Group).
· Supply of the 1st ceramic fiber insulated, recuperative radiant tubes heated enamelling furnace.
· 1st automatic application equipment by flow-coating to boilers hanging from the same overhead conveyor of the furnace
· 1st automatic crane operated spray degreasing and pickling lunit for boiler inside
· 1st integrated enamelling plant for boiler tanks with flow-coating, drying and firing on the same overhead conveyor line of sandblasting unit
· Fully integrated line with floor conveyor for spray application, drying and firing of two-coat enamelled heaters and flanges for boilers.

Both lines were installed at Scamen works for Chaffoteaux & Maury , in Luce (France).

· Installation of a compact line of proprietary design for spray cleaning and pickling of water heater tanks

Today, also retaining the name of the former partner, the company is fully independent and the field of activity was in the meantime expanded to exploit the expertise of the production of Porcelain Enamels, frits and powders.
